Why MATCU? > Join Us > Membership Eligibility

We’re not just for teachers anymore.  You may be eligible for membership in MATCU in a variety of ways.  Currently, people meeting any of these qualifications are eligible for membership:  

  • Employees and retired employees of educational facilities and companies related to education in Tennessee, DeSoto and Marshall counties in Mississippi and Crittenden County in Arkansas.
  • Residents of zip codes:  38016, 38018 (Cordova), 38017 (Collierville), 38138 and 38139 (Germantown).
  • Family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchild, step-parents, step-siblings, step-children and adoptive relationships).
  • All Federal employees and retired Federal employees. For a complete listing of Federal Government Agencies please refer to the phone book under Federal Government in the Blue Pages.
  • Students of higher learning (university/college) located in Tennessee, DeSoto and Marshall counties in Mississippi and in Crittenden County, Arkansas.
  • Members of the Hispanic Business Alliance.
  • Any person who lives, works, worships, volunteers, attends school or any business or legal entity in the Memphis city limits roughly within the area bordered by the I-240 loop is eligible for membership.

If you own a business in the Memphis area and employ less than 100 people, we may be able to provide credit union services to your employees.
